The first contribution to the Gates project was held in November 2003. The gate was located in Abney Park cemetery, Stoke Newington London N16. UK. The choice of location for the gate: a graveyard was chosen to symbolize links between past and present at a specific location. The performance was conceived and directed by Sylvie Prasad.

 

The second gate was locate at the entrance to the campus of the University of East London. 4-6 University Way Docklands London E16 UK.

The performance was held beneath the gate chosen as a symbol to represent a "gateway to knowledge" and took place in November 03 as part of the work from the KOS Group led by Helena Blakemore and Sylvie Prasad with students from LT105 "The creative imagination" unit.

Sylvie Prasad is a London based artist / photographer whose work has been exhibited widely. She teaches at the University of East London on the Media Studies and Media Production undergraduate programmes.

 

Helena Blakemore teaches across a range of undergraduate programmes at the University of East London.
